The Downs School, Colwall, were awarded 1st place in the U13s Choir Competition at the Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, on Thursday 10th May.

Mr. Malcolm Taylor, the class adjudicator awarded The Downs School Choir a rare ‘outstanding’ mark of 90 out of 100 and particularly commended them for their “sense of rhythm and fun, secure pitching and confident, convincing singing”.

The choir performed the set piece ‘Two for the Price of One’; a difficult two part arrangement of the popular folk tunes ‘This Old Man’ and ‘Michael Finnigan.’ This contrasted well with a moving performance of ‘You Raise Me Up’, which ably demonstrated the choir’s ability and attention to detail.
