The Downs, Malvern College Prep is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls aged from 2½ to 13 years. Situated in extensive grounds in the beautiful Malvern Hills the school values its surroundings along with its traditions, but moves with the times, striving always to exceed the confines of the national curriculum in academic, as well as in, cultural and social accomplishments. The Downs, Malvern College Prep School exists to make the most of, and to make time for, childhood.

| Sports Hall development ahead of schedule Originally due for completion in April it now looks as though the Sports Hall and classroom block will be ready for use mid March. The handover of this building will complete the £6 million redevelopment the site has undergone in the last 14 months. A Grand Opening of the whole site is planned for Saturday 25th April.

| Headmaster, Mr Alastair Ramsay takes up new position.It is with mixed feelings that Alastair Ramsay resigns from his post as Headmaster of The Downs, Malvern College Prep. He and Karen move on to lead West Hill Park School in Hampshire. Whilst excited by the propsect of a new headship, Alastair would like to reassure pupils, parents, staff, Old Downians and friends that it was a very difficult decision and one made harder by the success of the merger and the excellent working relationship he has with Malvern College. Alastair will continue to lead the school dynamically through the two inspections planned for February and June and feels extremely confident that he will be handing over an outstanding school to the new Head in September 2009. There has been a considerable interest in the Head's position, with over 90 application packs having been sent out. Interviews will be early next term and the new Head will be announced by the end of January.

| New Early Years Building Opened on Monday 24th November Our youngest pupils had been visiting the new building regulalry for dance, drama and circle time sessions so they were well prepared for their move. Pupils and staff alike are delighted with the open plan teaching area, outside classroom and the magnificent views from the child height windows which over look Brock Meadow and the Malvern Hills.

| Young fund raiser donates £285 Well done to Sophie Davies who designed and sold Malvern College Prep 'Hillstone Hoodies' in celebration of the end of the school on the old site and in the process raised £285 for the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust Astro Fund.
